Firefighter/Paramedic (Lateral)

Applications are being accepted due to an immediate vacancy and to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Lateral Firefighter/Paramedic.

Annual Salary:  $57,166 - $81,666 DOE

(With a generous benefits and incentive package to include, but not limited to: Medical/Dental/Vision, Deferred Comp, MERP, pay/education incentives, etc.)

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under direction of a Lieutenant/supervisor, responds to emergency medical calls; uses specialized     medical protocols, equipment and supplies to provide on-scene medical intervention to preserve life until patient is transported and transferred to medical facilities and physician care. Responds to emergency fire and first aid calls; uses specialized equipment and tools to save lives, protect property, suppress and extinguish fires and perform emergency first aid and rescue operations; maintains continual availability and readiness of facilities, apparatus, equipment, and supplies; performs non-emergency services including inspections, investigations, equipment testing, record keeping and other standard fire station routines; maintains and upgrades personal skills and knowledge through internal and external instruction and training programs.

FIRE DISTRICT:

Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue serves 5,000 +/- residents in Jefferson County, Washington from 3 fire stations throughout a 55 square mile rural service area. In 2017, the district responded to 1168 calls for service. PLFR is a full service Fire Protection District that provides ALS/BLS Transport in an advanced EMS system that includes administration of thrombolytics in the field, Rapid Sequence Intubation, Conscious sedation of patients in Excited Delirium and many other advanced interventions. In addition to EMS response, PLFR provides Fire Protection, Marine Response, Wildland Urban Interface, Technical Rescue, fire investigation and many other community services and support programs.

QUALIFYING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:

Ø  Graduation from high school or equivalent

Ø  State of Washington Emergency Medical Service Paramedic or possession of National Registry Paramedic certification (NREMT). The successful candidate must receive authorization of the Medical Program Director to be able to operate in Jefferson County.

o   Applicants that are not currently a Jefferson County authorized paramedic will be required to take a Paramedic Assessment Test as part of the testing process

Ø  Completion of one year of full time paid uniformed experience with successful completion of the agency's probationary program;

Ø  IFSAC Firefighter 1

Ø  IFSAC Hazardous Material Awareness and Operations

Ø  Valid Washington State driver's license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of state residency;

Ø  Current CPAT certification (May be waived at the discretion of the Fire Chief)
