Safe Fleet Announces Fire, EMS, and Industrial Promotions

Safe Fleet Fire, EMS, & Industrial sales team annouced the promotion of several current employees. Each individual will continue to focus on the Safe Fleet Fire, EMS, and Industrial Market brands; FRC, Elkhart Brass, FoamPro, and R•O•M. Their efforts will continue to concentrate on customer development and sales growth responsibilities for each of their assigned territories. A major benefit to our customers is the fact that each Safe Fleet team member offers a wealth of unique, yet practical, industry experience; from both a sales and end-user perspective.

Jason Witmier and Andy Plofkin have been promoted to National Account Managers. In their new roles, they will be responsible for further developing strategic and tactical sales initiatives to expand FRC, Elkhart Brass, FoamPro, and ROM presence in the USA. With diverse industry backgrounds and experience, both Jason & Andy bring a high level of expertise to service all customer levels. Jason will manage regional sales managers covering the eastern US and Andy managing those in the western US. Both will report to Ron Truhler, Divisional Vice President of Sales.

Jerry Herbst has been promoted to National Account Manager, Elkhart Brass Municipal Products. In addition to managing the municipal product sales manager team across the US, he will focus on managing key National Accounts to drive continued municipal product sales growth. A 40-year veteran of the fire service, Jerry has served in all rank positions including fire chief. He also has a long and extensive instructing background. He is also a subject matter expert in evaluating, developing, and implementing equipment solutions for effective fire attacks. Jerry will report to Ron Truhler, Divisional Vice President of Sales.

Peter Luhrs has been promoted to Vice President of Product Management. In his new role, he will have the responsibility for new product development, product management, and engineering functions for all Fire, EMS, & Industrial products at FRC, Elkhart Brass, FoamPro, and ROM. In his new role, Peter will be responsible for product, integration, and new technology strategies to deliver a portfolio of products to exceed the future challenges and increase safety of our customers. Peter replaces Eric Combs who has been promoted to Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Safe Fleet, and will report to Toh Meng, Senior Vice President.

Sunshine Motel Fire in Yakima Leaves Many Without a Place to Live

More than a dozen units of the Sunshine Motel on North First Street were damaged in a fire Monday leaving more than 25 people without a place to stay. As a result the American Red Cross opened a shelter at the Summitview Church of Christ on North 72nd Avenue on Monday morning. Firefighters were called to the motel at about 6:00 a.

Clallam County Fire Chiefs: Fireworks danger not enough to support ban in county

Two Clallam County fire chiefs told the county commissioners Monday that they have not seen enough fires in Clallam County caused by fireworks to justify a ban. The discussion during Monday’s work session centered around the fire danger caused by fireworks and when the county should take fire risk into consideration when re- stricting fireworks.

911 delays of up to 3 minutes haunt Iowa emergency responders; A fix is not yet in sight

Technical glitches between the brains of disparate computer-aided dispatch and radio systems in the Des Moines metro area cause delays from a few seconds to up to 3 minutes. South Carolina: Today marks 12 years since 9 Charleston firefighters died battling furniture store fire

The Charleston Fire Department will remember the nine firefighters who died 12 years ago in a massive furniture store fire in West Ashley. The department will hold the ceremony at the Charleston 9 Memorial Park, which was built on the site of the former store, 7 p.m. Tuesday. Starting at midnight Tuesday morning, firefighters began a 24-hour watch at the park’s flagpole.
