Firefighters In Massachusetts Remember 'Torrid Tuesday' Tank Farm Fire

PHOTOS: It was just after 9 AM and already the temperatures were in the 90s. A work crew was pin-welding insulation onto a gigantic 5-million-gallon fuel storage tank in the tank farm next to the Canal Electric Plant. But the crew had not properly grounded the tank before they began work. That mistake would cause one of the largest fires the Sandwich Fire Department has ever battled.

1 injured as fire burns home in South Seattle

One person was found injured after a fire burned a home in South Seattle early Friday morning. The fire broke out just after 12:30 a.m. in the 8600 block of Renton Avenue South, according to Seattle Fire officials. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the home and one of the home's residents outside suffering from injuries.

East Beach Road Fire 75 percent contained

The East Beach Road Fire is now 75 percent contained, the Western Washington Type 3 Incident Management Team overseeing the operations said Thursday. The fire remained at 84 acres with 84 firefighters at the blaze. The fire was reported July 29 just north of East Beach Road near Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park.

Seattle opens free COVID-19 testing site at Rainier Beach High School

The City of Seattle will open a free walk-up COVID-19 testing site at Rainier Beach High School on Friday. It is the third free testing site the city has opened, with plans for a fourth site in southwest Seattle. Starting August 7, the community testing site will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Motor home catches fire in Vancouver

A fire destroyed a motor home Thursday morning in Vancouver’s West Minnehaha neighborhood. Vancouver Fire Department crews were dispatched at 10:26 a.m. to 4312 N.E. 12th Ave., for a report of a fire. No one was home at the time, and the neighbors who called in the fire thought it was a brush fire initially, fire department spokesman Bryan Fredrickson said.
