$35.47 - $43.11 Hourly 

$6,148.13 - $7,472.40 Monthly

DESCRIPTION: 

About the Position: The Olympia Fire Department's Fleet Maintenance program is looking for an energetic, eager, team-oriented and customer-focused Fire Mechanic for the Fleet Maintenance program. This group is responsible for sustaining a Regional Repair Facility for Fire and EMS vehicles, small engines, and equipment. The Master Mechanic's responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance on Fire Department and county-owned light duty and heavy equipment, fire apparatus, and department equipment.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile: 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Work independently, be a self starter, bring enthusiasm and a high level of energy to the position. 
  • Be accountable for producing quality workmanship and completing maintenance tasks and assignments in a safe and timely manner. 
  • Have three years journey-level experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment. 
  • Have a Medium-Heavy-Truck ASE Certification and/or EVT Certification. 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Fire Department and county-owned light-duty and heavy equipment, fire apparatus, and department equipment. 
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs diesel and gasoline-powered engines, automatic electronic transmissions and transaxles, manual drive trains and axles, drive shafts, differentials, suspension and steering systems, hydraulic/air/anti-lock brake systems, electrical and electronic systems, heating and air conditioning systems, low-pressure air systems, fuel systems, lubrication systems, exhaust systems, hydraulic systems, radio systems, and other types of communication equipment. 
  • Generates and maintains vehicle and equipment maintenance records and work orders; makes emergency service calls when necessary and assists other Mechanics as needed. 
  • Punctual, regular and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance.
