The Washington Fire Chiefs extend our deepest condolences to the members of Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department, the Idaho community, and the families and loved ones of the firefighters whose lives were taken in the tragic and senseless act of violence that occurred over the weekend. We are profoundly saddened by this loss and the pain it brings to so many.

WFC Leadership has reached out to both the responding Washington agencies and the impacted Idaho agencies and offered our support and assistance in whatever way might be needed. Due to the close relationships and proximity, we recommend badge shrouding in compliance with your agency polices, from now until the time of the service. As we receive more information, we will provide updates.  

To the families, friends, and impacted agencies: in this dark moment, please know the entire fire service stands beside you. We share in your sorrow, and we honor the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of those who ran toward danger to protect others. May their legacy bring you strength, and may the support and love surrounding you offer comfort as you navigate the difficult days ahead. We hold you close in our thoughts and prayers.
