2021 Washington State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service

After much thought, conversation and with an overabundance of caution, the decision has been made to cancel the 2021 Washington State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service schedule for August 15, 2021, at the Washington State Fire Training Academy. With the rising concern of the new COVID variate outbreak and consideration for the health and welfare of the family and department members attending, we believe this is the best course of action. Honoring our fallen firefighters is a priority for the members of the fire service and this decision was not reached lightly. Thirteen firefighters were scheduled to be honored this year, and their memory and the impact on our lives will not go unnoticed or be forgotten.

While we are cancelling this year's memorial, we are still moving forward with honoring our fallen members. Washington State Fallen Firefighter Honors will be delivered to individual departments. Over the next few months, we will be scheduling a time with each of the departments and the families to hang the Memorial Ribbons upon the State Memorial Pike Pole memorializing the life and sacrifice of each one of our honorees.
“Never Forgotten” are words we hold closely and are only held true when we take the purposeful action to remember. To each of the families and the departments, we remember with you the firefighters who are deeply ingrained in your lives and culture.
