A/C Class, with EPA 609 Test, Tony Martin
Class Description:
This course is designed for the emergency vehicle technician, focusing on best practices for diagnosis and service of mobile A/C systems.  Major topics include:

  1. A/C theory of operation refresher
  2. System performance checks
  3. Visual inspection of major components
  4. Refrigerant identifier operation
  5. RRR machine preparation
  6. Gauge readings diagnostics
  7. Leak detection best practices
    1. Electronic
    2. Fluorescent dye
    3. Forming gas
  8. System service best practices

 
Day 2 of the course will provide an opportunity for the technician to acquire EPA 609 certification.  All technicians who perform A/C system service “for consideration” (pay) or wish to purchase refrigerant in larger than 2-pound containers must have EPA 609 certification.

Instructor Bio:
Tony Martin has been working in the automotive and diesel technology fields since 1984.  He started his career in Canada as an apprentice mechanic at an International Harvester dealer, and graduated as an Interprovincial Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic in 1989.   

 

Since that time, he has operated his own mobile repair business, worked in Alaska’s Cook Inlet oilfield as a gas turbine technician, and taught automotive and diesel technology at the post-secondary level for 17 years.  After leaving the University of Alaska in 2013, he worked as the mobile equipment maintenance trainer at the Kinross Fort Knox gold mine in Fairbanks, Alaska.  His last full-time day in the mining industry was August 1, 2022, and he now is a freelance writer and trainer. 

 

Tony has written dozens of  articles over the years for Motor Age magazine and the Mobile Air Climate Systems Association (MACS).  He has also presented seminars at many conferences, including NACAT, MACS, TST, and Automechanika.  Tony holds 21 ASE certifications, including CMAT (A1-A9), CMTT (T1-T8), F1, H1, L1 and L2. 


Oil Analysis Class, Mark Booth/Alan McFadin
Class Description:
Benefits and importance of using an oil analysis program for added savings and reduced liability.  2). Fuel Testing—quality assurance for improved dependability and improved uptime, fewer headaches and big savings, compliance, and reduced liability.  3).  Lubricant Fundamentals—usage and best practices for fleets and shop, improved durability, and savings.


Instructor Bios


Alan McFadin is a longtime resident of 
Moses Lake, WA.   Alan has worked for Schaeffer Manufacturing Company for 18 years.  Alan specializes in commercial and industrial lubrication sales and is highly regarded for his consulting. He is a Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) member and holds advance certifications, as a Certified Lubrication Specialist, (CLS) and Oil Monitoring Analyst, (OMA1).  He has been a STLE Member since 2006 and has served as past Chairman, Seattle Section— which serves the entire lubrication and fuel industry with professional C.E. programs and advanced industry training.  Alan enjoys time with his wife and grown kids and grandchildren, and especially enjoys camping and kayaking in his free time.  


Mark Booth has represented Schaeffer Manufacturing since 2011 providing technical sales in major portions of the Puget Sound and Alaska.  Mark’s diverse professional experience includes automotive fleet management, food manufacturing and marketing management.  Mark is a Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) member.  He particularly enjoys working with customers to improve and implement preventative maintenance lubrication programs, better efficiency and uptime solutions for fleet maintenance and manufacturing industries.  Mark lives in West Seattle with his wife, is active in his church, lifelong blood donor, and is active in serving his community.



EVT Testing: 
To participate in EVT Testing you must register with the EVT Commission at  
http://www.evtcc.org/ 21 days before the test date.

Cancellation:

The WFC is obligated to pay certain costs to the conference facility; for this event we have a 50% cancelation policy up until April 17th, at which point there will be no refunds.  However, we are always happy to substitute a registration should someone else from your agency wish to attend.
