Lateral Firefighter EMT and Lateral Firefighter Paramedic About Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One: Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One (GHFMO) provides 911 emergency medical services, fire suppression, emergency rescue and injury prevention services to the 51,000 residents living on the Gig Harbor Peninsula. Our response area covers 54 square miles with more than 50 miles of shoreline including Fox and Raft Islands. We take great pride in providing excellent service to our community. In 2022, our career firefighters responded to 6,516 calls. GHFMO also supports a variety of specialized teams, including Technical Rescue and Wildland Firefighting. Requirements	Minimum Qualifications: • Currently employed as a full-time, career Firefighter EMT or Firefighter Paramedic. • Successful completion of a Firefighter 1 or equivalent recruit academy and probationary period. • Current WA State EMT or Paramedic certification or the ability to obtain WA State certification by June 2024. • High School graduate or equivalent (GED) and at least 18 years of age. • Current, valid driver license and able to obtain a WA State driver license within 30 days of hire date. • Must be tobacco and marijuana free at time of pre-employment screening. Preferred Qualifications: • Firefighter 2 certification accredited by IFSAC or the Pro Board. • Completion of one (1) paramedic recertification period. Conditions of Employment: • Must successfully complete a 12-month probationary period. • Must successfully pass the pre-employment screening process. Driving Disqualifiers: • One or more traffic crime convictions in the last 5 years. • Two or more at-fault accidents in past 3 years. • Three or more traffic infractions in the past 3 years. • Suspension of driver’s license within the past 3 years. Criminal Disqualifiers: • Any felony, misdemeanor, domestic violence or sexual misconduct convictions, may result in disqualification.
