About Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One:
Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One (GHFMO) provides emergency medical services, fire suppression, emergency rescue and prevention services to 51,354 residents living in the Gig Harbor area, covering approximately 54 square miles in suburban and rural areas. We take great pride in providing excellent service to our community. In 2024, our career firefighters responded to 7531 calls. GHFMO also supports a variety of specialized teams, including Technical Rescue and Wildland Firefighting. Career Firefighter EMT positions are funded through permanent levies and have never been eliminated. Required Qualifications:
• Must be currently employed as a full-time career Firefighter EMT.
• Successful completion of IFSAC or equivalent Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2, with current certifications.
• Successful completion of an accredited fire academy.
• Current WA State EMT certification or EMT certification from another state, including current or previous National Registry accreditation.
• High School graduate or equivalent (GED) and at least 18 years of age.
• Current WA State driver license or able to obtain within 30 days of hire date.
• Must be tobacco and marijuana free at time of pre-employment screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Current Wildland Fire Incident Qualification Card (Red Card).
Conditions of Employment:
• Must successfully complete a 12-month probationary period.
• Must successfully pass the pre-employment screening process.
